Using traditional methods and subjects, she
produced several public sculptures within the City of Paramount. As the
first public sculptor in The City, she has initiated an awareness of art
that extends beyond the limitations of museum walls. The community now
enjoys four works in stone reflecting themes relating to man, woman, and
child.
In conjunction with her own personal art work, Mrs. Cartozian continues to
teach at California State University, Long Beach. The courses include
Drawing, Sculpture and Art Education. In addition, she supervises
student teachers and continues to teach through the extension programs
within the CSU and UC systems. She has taught throughout the U.S.,
Canada, Italy, France and Japan. Her expertise in teaching drawing as
well as sculpture, and the many certificate courses for teachers, comes
from 24 years of experience working with Dr. Betty Edwards, author of
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. These courses have provided
teachers and students with the foundation for art as well as a better
way of thinking creatively. |
